EPIC presents problem gambling prevention and education to PPFplayers

Eleanor Oldroyd presents a special program looking at the issue of gambling addiction amongst professional sports people.

Featuring stories from those who have battled addiction and look at what is being done to tackle the problems associated with gambling addiction.

Joining Elly are former Arsenal, Celtic and West Ham striker John Hartson; Jason Ratcliffe – Deputy Chief Executive for the Professional Cricketers Association; Henrietta Bowden-Jones – Director of the National Problem Gambling Clinic; and Marc Etches – Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Trust.

We also examine if those in sport have more of a problem than the general public with gambling, and also focus on what’s being done to help people who are struggling with addiction. Elly also speaks to Colin Bland, Chief Executive of Sporting Chance clinic which focuses on the treatment of behavioural problems among professional and amateur sports people. And we hear from Niall McNamee, Gaelic Footballer for Offaly and Rhode who was himself addicted to gambling for several years.
