EPIC Risk Management team members celebrate becoming fully qualified Mental Health First Aiders

Several members of the EPIC Risk Management have today become Mental Health First Aiders after completing a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Two Day course delivered by Acacia Training.

MHFA is the mental health equivalent of physical first aid. The training provides participants with the skills and confidence to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues and effectively guide a person towards the right support, be that self-help or professional services.

EPIC Risk Management CEO, Paul Buck: “As an organisation, as fellow team-members and in the line of work that we operate in we are acutely aware of the importance of understanding and championing our own people’s mental health. No more so than with the uncertainties and anxieties Covid-19 the world is experiencing has the importance of supporting an individual’s mental health become such an important skill to have in the workplace. I’m very proud to see how well the team has done and I’d like to congratulate them on all becoming fully qualified Mental Health First Aiders.”

EPIC Risk Management’s Head of Training & Development, Caty Illingworth: “MHFA training improves our people’s mental health first aid knowledge, recognition of disorders, and beliefs about the most effective forms of treatment for mental health issues.

“Our Mental Health First Aiders will play a vital role in championing not only our own people’s mental health but also the mental health of those to whom we present our education, awareness and training sessions. This training provides team members with the tools to identify potential issues and guide people in taking steps towards accessing relevant mental health resources and third-party organisations. This group of qualified MHFAs will now serve to provide an extra level of support, professionalism and safety both for us as an organisation and for our clients across different sectors.”
