Ground-breaking awareness event for land-based casinos coming to London

EPIC Risk Management is delighted to announce a ground-breaking London event designed to educate and inform land-based casinos on minimising potential gambling harm and introduce their new fully evaluated workshops to the land-based sector.

EPIC Risk Management’s Beyond Compliance and Responsibility – Exploring the Customer Viewpoint for Land-Based Casinos will be a first-of-its-kind event in the land-based casino industry, showcasing their new workshops which have been designed to increase casino staff’s understanding of their players and build confidence and knowledge during interactions with at-risk customers.

The event, which is free to industry professionals, is to be held at the Hippodrome Casino at the heart of London’s Leicester Square on Wednesday 19th April from 3pm-6pm and will be delivered by EPIC’s award-winning Safer Gambling team, who have extensive training and consultancy experience with digital and retail bookmakers, casinos, game designers, affiliates and other gambling industry professionals.

Spearheading Beyond Compliance and Responsibility – Exploring the Customer Viewpoint for Land-Based Casinos will be EPIC Risk Management’s Joanna Whitehall, whose highly successful global career in the gambling industry culminated in a ten-year tenure as Casino Manager at the Ritz Club, London, before joining EPIC’s Safer Gambling Team as sustainability manager.

Speaking about the event, Joanna said:

“We’re looking forward to presenting a greater understanding of ways in which land-based casinos can complement their current training with our lived experience programmes and use these to embed safer gambling policies in an ever-changing regulatory environment and landscape.

“In my own career, I’ve witnessed first-hand the full spectrum of player behaviour and how by being honest and open with your customers and showing that you care can have a profound impact in identifying and minimising harm.”

In what is designed to provide comprehensive insight from a variety of perspectives, the day will include the following agenda items:

  •  A lived experience story from Paul Findlay MBE, explaining how vulnerability exposed him to gambling-related harm and ultimately addiction.
  •  A panel Q+A session on the importance of quality customer interactions for compliance, responsibility and sustainability with EPIC’s Safer Gambling Team and The Hippodrome’s Director of Business Services, Sam Douglas.
  • How does this work in reality? EPIC Risk Management’s Head of Training and Evaluation, Sam Brooks, shares the findings following EPIC’s pilot consultancy and training programme with The Hippodrome Casino.
  • Post-session drinks and canapes with an opportunity to network.

An invite-only event, this showcase is aimed at those working in compliance and safer gambling within the UK’s land-based casino industry as well as politicians and regulators. To register your interest in attending please email jwhitehall@epicriskmanagement.com to request details.
